Kids Academy Programs

At Kids Academy we will introduce your child to a program that enhances intellectual, social, physical and emotional development.  Each child will be placed in a classroom environment which will meet his or her individual needs.  The children will experience the curriculum through developmentally appropriate, “hands-on” learning with many fun filled activities.

Each week the center creates age appropriate lesson plans that follow child oriented themes, for example:  Seasons, Our Pets, Nutrition, Fire Safety, Community Helpers, and many others. 

The lesson plans include the following areas:

ACADEMICS

• *reciting the alphabet
• *recognizing colors and shapes
• *counting to 5 (toddlers), 10 (twos), 15 (threes), and 20 (fours)
• *sequencing and sorting patterns
• *practicing handwriting, such as their name, address and small words

LANGUAGE ARTS/CIRCLE TIME

• *discussing themes of the week
• *repeating sounds, names and words
• *socializing with peers in a group situation
• *using weather charts and calendars
• *asking questions (who, what, where, when, why)

STORY TIME

• *expressing the comprehension of stories
• *using imagination to create stories
• *developing listening skills

MUSCLE DEVELOPMENT

A.     Fine Motor Skills-small muscles

• *shaving cream play
• *play-dough
• *sand/water table
• *lego construction

B.     Gross Motor Skills-large muscles

• *exercising
• *obstacle course
• *dancing
• *follow the leader

MUSIC

• *expression through music
• *fun with songs and fingerplays
• *dance
• *imitate rhythm
